The Ascuaga Family strolls their property day and night, seeking to make their guests' stays more enjoyable

At a time when "family-owned" is becoming a rarity among resorts and casinos, one destination continues to pull off big-time experiences while retaining its roots as one of the area’s perennial favorites for food and friendliness.

John Ascuaga's Nugget Resort Casino, founded as a coffee shop in 1955, has grown to become one of the area's prime meeting destinations. The resort contains all the comforts and essentials critical to creating successful meetings.

The Nugget has a front row seat to Victorian Square, the epicenter of dozens of concerts and special events that rank among the nation’s most popular. There’s the Best in The West Nugget Rib Cookoff, Hot August Nights, Street Vibrations and Star Spangled Sparks Fourth of July fireworks to name a few. Victorian Square is quickly accessible from the Reno airport via free shuttle.

Recently, The Nugget made some impressive additions to the property as well as to its meeting venues. The 600 rooms in the Nugget’s East Tower have just been improved to the tune of $17 million with elegant armoires, new carpeting, 42” High-Def flat panel TVs, granite countertops, artistic lighting, and high-speed wireless Internet. There’s a new spread of color and energy sweeping the convention center as well, with new carpet and high-speed wireless Internet throughout the 110,000 square feet of ballrooms, exhibit halls and breakout rooms. 6,500 square feet consisting of 11 separate breakout rooms are currently being re-modeled as a new “Executive Conference Center” which will feature the latest audiovisual capabilities and modern aesthetics, all to make the setting perfect for the most discriminating clients.

A cornerstone of The Nugget, in addition to the incessant smiles and service, is the emphasis on dining, with its eight distinctive restaurants that are perennial favorites of locals and visitors alike.
